Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas is an amazing start to an even better series. Full of conflicts, plot twists, and romances, this series will have you reading for hours at a time.

In a world where magic rules, but in a country where it has disappeared, there is an 18-year-old girl. Celaena Sardothien, assassin turned slave, had it all—money, fame, and the love of her life. That is, until her boyfriend is tortured and killed and she gets shipped off to the Endovier Salt Mines, where most slaves don’t survive longer than a month. Celaena survives three. Then, after brutal beatings, and being locked in pitch-black pits for days, comes her light at the end of the tunnel.

The Crown Prince of Adarlan arrives with the Captain of the Guard to make her his champion. Champion duty entails winning a contest and becoming the King’s Assassin. Celaena is promised to be set free after two years of service, but first she has to defeat the best assassins and soldiers Adarlan could offer. Worse yet, she has to outperform them all, and maybe do some killing along the way. Of course, this is all after barely eating and never exercising for three months. Add in some romance, plot twists, backstabbing, and magic, and you have the first out of an eight-book series that you’ll never want to put down.
